Miscou Island Marram Grass Planting
September 20 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm ADT
Free
Join Ghost Gear Disappear Inc. for an afternoon of dune restoration on Miscou Island. Together, we’ll plant native marram grass to help stabilize sand dunes and protect the island’s vulnerable coastline.
Marram grass plays a crucial role in reducing coastal erosion. Its deep roots help anchor sand in place, allowing dunes to grow and buffer against rising seas and strong storms. By restoring these natural barriers, we can help protect important habitat for birds, insects, and other species — as well as nearby communities.
No experience needed — just a willingness to get your hands sandy and support nature.
What to Bring: Hat, sunscreen, water, gloves if you have them, comfortable clothing
What is Provided: First aid kit, planting tools, gloves, hand sanitizer, extra water/snacks
Note: No washroom facilities on site.
